About Tigers for Tigers
The tiger is a
powerful, unifying symbol for thousands of Clemson students,
alumni, staff, and friends. Its roar is heard at sporting
events, and its paw prints line the highways to campus.
Tigers are also important symbols throughout Asia, where
they are feared, respected, and sometimes revered.
Unfortunately, tigers now survive better as symbols than in
reality. Three of eight subspecies have gone extinct in the
last 75 years, and the rest could disappear before the next
generation of Clemson "tigers" reaches college age.
Our Mission
We propose to engage the Clemson community in efforts to save the tiger, as both a challenge and opportunity for our institution. We propose a university-wide program to enhance tiger conservation.
What We Do
Tigers for Tigers does vast research to align ourselves with the cutting edge of tiger conservation in the World today. In other words you can be sure that any time or money you donate to Clemson University's Tigers for Tigers program will be used to the maximum degree to best protect our mascot in the wild. We consider anyone who considers themselves both a Clemson Tiger fan and protector of Tigers in the wild to be a supporter and member of the cause. We are affiliated currently with the Tiger Trust Fund of India. Their leader Anjana Gosain's main priority now is to hire guards to stop Tiger poachers in India's national forest. So a large portion of your donation will go to this cause. Our other efforts are engaged in education of the public. Ed Spera's organization is serving to help in mass educational efforts. For example the portrait he donated to Clemson to be used in this public educational effort. One of our other main objectives is actually sending Clemson students to India to be a solution to the problem. Students go to India each year to serve in the areas surrounding the Conservation parks in India. As you can see our organization is heavily invested in getting Clemson intimately involved with becoming a international leader in Tiger Conservation. GO TIGERS
